Program
Day 1
Wallendorf
We welcome you in Wallendorf in the early afternoon and hand over your travel pack. Take the opportunity to discover Echternach, a charming village just a few kilometers along the river Sûre, before enjoying your included evening meal.
Day 2
Echternach – Berdorf – Echternach (13.5 km; +326 m)
For this first loop hike, set off on foot from the center of Echternach and explore the natural beauty of the region. This tour combines the history of Luxembourg’s oldest city with two remarkable geological sites: the Wollefsschlucht gorge near Echternach and the Huel Lee at Berdorf.
The picturesque route leads you through forests, rocks and spectacular scenery between Echternach and Berdorf. You’ll discover the Wolfsschlucht gorge, a steep, smooth crevasse, as well as the Huel Lee, a natural amphitheatre, and the Aesbach valley.
The Hohllay and Breechkaul caves (formerly used to extract millstones for medieval mills) still leave visible traces in the rock. This demanding but rewarding hike includes a climb from Echternach to the Berdorf plateau and takes around 4 hours.
Day 3
Mullerthal – Consdorf – Mullerthal (8.3 km ;+ 328 m)
This hike links the sites of two former mills in the villages of Consdorf and Mullerthal. You walk along fascinating rock formations
Your starting point is the Heringer Millen in the village of Mullerthal. There is ample parking on site. The mill was once one of the most important in the region. It now houses a restaurant and a tourist office.
Goldkaul, Goldfralaee, Eilebuerg as well as Schelmelee and Ramelee are the names of the rocks you pass along this walk. These special names often go back to myths and legends. Erosion sometimes makes some of the sandstone rocks look like bizarre shapes or faces.
The Schiessentümpel on the Ernz Noire is a picturesque waterfall that you can walk along. The waterfall is overlooked by an idyllic stone and wood bridge. With its surrounding rocks and lush vegetation, the Schiessentümpel has become one of the most popular excursion destinations in the Mullerthal Region – Luxembourg’s Little Switzerland.
Day 4
Berdorf (4.1 km ;+368 m)
This family hike starts in the center of Berdorf, leading quickly to the romantic Ruetsbech canyon. Adventurers can explore the Ruetsbechschlëff, Raiberhiel Cave and climb to Adlerhorst. Don’t miss the impressive views from Ruetsbechplateau and Däiwelsinsel.
Crossing an ancient Roman road and rock formations, you pass through the Wanterbaach gorge and the Siweschlëff. The route continues along a forest path towards the Martbusch Center, before returning to Berdorf.
If you wish, you can add an extra night to your stay. Your stay will then end the next morning after breakfast.
