The Mullerthal Trail is the beating heart of the region’s trails. This magnificent signposted itinerary offers 112 kilometers <\/strong>of hiking on 3 circuits, known as “routes”. All our trails are certified “Leading Quality Trails – Best of Europe<\/strong>“.<\/p>\n\n

This distinction underlines the excellence of the trails’<\/strong> development<\/strong> and maintenance<\/strong>, as well as their accessibility<\/strong> and safety<\/strong> for hikers of all levels. In fact, you’ll benefit from clear signposting<\/strong> and well-designed infrastructures<\/strong> for a smooth, enjoyable hiking<\/strong> experience.<\/p>\n\n

Cultural and historical wealth<\/h3>\n\n

For example, Route 3 of the Mullerthall Trail takes in the Renaissance<\/strong> ch\u00e2teau, the ch\u00e2teau de Larochette<\/strong> and the ruins of the ch\u00e2teau de Beaufort<\/strong>, built between the 11th and 17th centuries. Focus on Mullerthall’s must-see trails<\/h2>\n\n

Mullerthal Trail Route 1: Echternach and the S\u00fbre River<\/h3>\n\n

This first loop covers a distance of 36.7 kilometers<\/strong>, estimated to be of medium difficulty. Initially, you can visit the historic center of Echternach<\/strong>, known as Luxembourg’s oldest town<\/strong>. You’ll also discover the Willinrord Basilica and the Gisterklaus Chapel.<\/p>\n\n

For fans of rivers and waterholes, <\/strong>Route 1 of the Mullerthal Trail runs along the S\u00fbre river<\/strong>, on the border with Germany.<\/p>\n\n

Mullerthal Trail Route 2: the Berdorf rocks<\/h3>\n\n

This second route can be taken as a loop in its own right, or as a second stage after Route 1, if you wish to extend your stay. Either way, you’ll enjoy 39.1 kilometers <\/strong>of breathtaking scenery.<\/p>\n\n

You’ll travel through a rocky landscape<\/strong> that will delight fans of rocky landscapes and thrills. On this hike, you’ll discover the Wollefsschlucht<\/strong>, also known as the Gorge du Loup<\/strong>, an area as steep<\/strong> as it is magnificent. You can also admire the Berdorf rocks<\/strong>, a well-known <\/strong> feature of the region <\/strong>(as well as its specialty, Berdorf cheese).<\/p>\n\n

Mullerthal Trail Route 3: spring and castle<\/h3>\n\n

Last but not least, Route 3 of the Muller Trail takes you on a 37.9-kilometre<\/strong> journey along its historic paths<\/strong>. As explained above, this loop takes in the ruins of<\/strong> Beaufort<\/strong> castle<\/strong>, the ruins of Larochette<\/strong> castle and the Renaissance<\/strong> castle.<\/p>\n\n

Are you still waiting for a bit of greenery <\/strong>after this historic section? You won’t be disappointed. Route 3 takes you to a romantic pontoon<\/strong>. Here you can admire the Sch\u00e9issend\u00ebmpel<\/strong>, the famous waterfall<\/strong> of shimmering colors.<\/p>\n\n
