Family outings in the Grande Forêt de Saint-Hubert

Come and discover the “roaming holiday” with Europ’Aventure in the heart of one of Europe’s most beautiful forests.

You’ll enjoy a relaxed hike through the heart of the Saint-Hubert forest, following a signposted trail (mainly GR14 and Transardennaise). The trip is made up of 3 short stages, perfectly suited to families with children, novices and anyone wanting shorter stages.

This new itinerary, designed by Europ’Aventure’s teams, gives pride of place to the playful discovery of the forest. Children will certainly appreciate the Laneuville educational trail, as well as the passage through the Orthi reserve. You can also visit the game park in Saint-Hubert to observe deer, wild boar and other forest animals.

Program

Day 1

Saint-Hubert
Reception in Saint-Hubert in the afternoon and delivery of the complete file. You can also visit the village of Saint-Hubert, the European capital of nature and hunting, and its famous basilica. You can also take a stroll in the Parc à Gibier, 1.5 km from the hotel and the center of Saint-Hubert.

Day 2

Saint-Hubert – Laneuville (14.0 km; + 228 m)
For this first stage, you start out on foot from your accommodation in the center of Saint-Hubert. You soon leave the village and plunge into the Grande Forêt de Saint-Hubert. The path is easy to follow, as on this stage you follow the signposted GR14 towards the small village of Laneuville. You leave the marked trail near the village to reach your accommodation for the night.

Day 3

Laneuville – Tonny (15 km; + 191 m)
For this second stage, you set off on foot from your accommodation and leave the village via the Bois de la Fontaine educational trail (also known as the ant trail). Follow the signs and activities on this 1km trail specially designed for children. You then take the marked GR14 path back to the village of Lavacherie. You then cross the magnificent Orthi nature reserve before reaching your accommodation in Tonny. Young and old alike will love the indoor pool and sauna.

Day 4

Tonny – Saint-Hubert (13.7 km; + 228 m)
On this last day, you return to Saint-Hubert along one of Belgium’s best-known itineraries, the Transardennaise. The signposts take you back to the heart of the village via the forest. You end your stay in front of the Basilica.

Home : day 1, in the late afternoon (the welcome point will be confirmed at the time of booking)
Hiking record delivery.

Dispersion: On the last day, at the end of the stage, you walk back to the starting point (where your car is). Possibility of an extra night at the end of your stay.

Supervision: hiking in freedom, without guide

Accommodation : hotels ***/****, bed and breakfast *** (it is possible that a transfer can be organized to the accommodation if there is no accommodation at the end of the stage)

Access: by car (free parking for the duration of your stay) or by public transport: Train (Libramont station) + Bus (TEC line 51). There’s a bus stop less than 50 meters from the first hotel.

Dogs: Dogs are allowed on this trip but you must notify us at the time of booking as not all accommodations accept dogs. There is a dog supplement to be paid directly to the accommodations

Dates

Your stay can be organized at your convenience, and departures are possible all year round. Please note: from 1 October to 31 December, the itinerary is likely to be deviated in some places due to the hunting season. You will always be warned!

This tour is a 3-stop loop, but it’s possible to do only part of it – in which case, please let me know in your request, and you’ll need to plan a return trip to the car!
