On the Art trail in Condroz-Famenne
An original and fascinating discovery of the Condroz-Famenne region (Ciney area), unique in Belgium!
The“Sentiers d’Art en Condroz-Famenne” long-distance hiking trail stretches for almost 155 km through the communes of Assesse, Ciney, Gesves, Hamois, Havelange, Ohey and Somme-Leuze. It is punctuated by over 55 works of art in nature. These works belong to the Land Art movement that emerged in the 1960s. The artist intervenes directly on the space and components of the landscape and nature, using natural materials (branches, rocks, foliage, hay, etc.) and the installation evolves over time until it eventually biodegrades. These are often ephemeral works of art. On Sentiers d’Art, they’re destined to stay for a few years. Since 2022, there have also been 6 Street Art murals.
Europ’Aventure offers you the opportunity to walk this marked trail (red rectangle with the inscription “Sentiers d’Art”) during a 65 km loop in 3 stages. You will have the opportunity to discover more than twenty of the exhibited works and you will stay in pleasant guest houses
Given the size of our accommodation, the Sentier d’Art is aimed exclusively at small groups (maximum 4 people) and is the ideal solution for all types of walkers: marked path (red square), quality accommodation, luggage transport and information on the region. Everything is planned so that you can make the most of the region and its beauties.
Free walking tour – Duration of 4 days (3 nights) – Departure all year round according to your availability and possibilities.
Program
Day 1
Outing
Reception in Sorée in the afternoon and delivery of the complete file. Possibility to visit the area around the hotel. Evening meal not included.
Day 2
Sorée – Gesves (19,5 km; +300 m)
The departure is from the hotel house. You will reach the work of art number 1 indicated on the map, located 100 meters away. From there, follow the signs (red rectangle) in the direction of Gesves . This first stage has no particular difficulty except for a small hill shortly before your arrival in Gesves. You will have the opportunity to discover the first 10 works of the artists’ journey. Evening meal not included – possibility to order directly at the guesthouse.
Day 3
Gesves – Jallet (23 km; + 300 m)
You leave the village of Gesves quickly. This stage takes place mainly in the fields and undergrowth. It will allow you to discover the Bois d’Ohey but also to admire a dozen works including “Under his wing” by Christian Lagrange. It is a very pleasant stage for those who like solitude. You will arrive at the end of the stage in Jallet. Evening meal not included.
Day 4
Jallet – Sorée (20 km ;+250 m)
Today’s stage takes you back to your car. From Jallet, you follow the Art trail for another 4 km before branching off onto the Evelette – Sorée link. End of the program upon arrival at your car.
