Snow conditions: Winter hiking evolves with the seasons. Occasionally, some stages are completed on foot, with snowshoes on the bag. We don’t cancel our snowshoeing holidays in the event of a lack of snow; the winter atmosphere and light will always be present. The GTJ route sometimes crosses wet areas that are impassable without snow, but we’ll point out the alternatives in the route book. Winter transforms the mountains: the colors change and the sun, lower down, offers sunset lights all day long.
Level: Hilly or mountain itinerary with an average ascent and descent of 200 m. Short stages, so that whatever the snow conditions, you’ll be able to cover them with complete peace of mind. You can also take a midday break at a refuge for lunch or visit the museums in the villages you pass through.
Lunch: If you have not taken the “picnic” option (extra charge), lunch can be ordered from your accommodation provider, or during village visits. For this package, drinks during and outside meals are at your own expense.
Hiking file: We provide you with a complete hiking file that will allow you to hike without a guide. It consists of a topo-guide (booklet) with a detailed description of the itinerary and 2 IGN 1:25,000 topographic maps showing (with a highlighter) the hiking routes. We also recommend that you bring a compass and know how to “read” a map. This logbook will be given to you on the day of departure.
