The Dolomites: the must-sees

Program

Day 1

Pocol
Arrival at Pocol (6 km from Cortina). Check-in at your hotel for 5 nights on a half-board basis.

Day 2

The Cinque Torri
From Passo Falzarego, 2105m, climb to Forcella Averau, 2435 m, with a beautiful passage under the Averau cliffs, to Forcella Nuvolau and the Averau hut. You then descend to the Scoiattoli hut, an astonishing balcony facing the Tofane and the Cinque Torri, astonishing stone towers, a realm of rock climbing. Easy descent to Cian Zopé, 1732 m. Return bus to Pocol (5 min).
4h walking; +350 m, -715 m.
Option to extend the stage with a return trip to the Nuvolau hut, 2575m, offering superb views over the valley to the south, the Tofane to the north, Cristallo and Sorapis to the east. +1h30 walking, +140m, -140m.
Overnight in a half-board hotel.

Day 3

Crossing the Tofane massif
A hike that starts at an altitude of 1985m, and passes under the Col dei Bois and the south face of the Tofane de Rozes via the Alta via 1, then reaches the Dibona refuge and its terrace ideally situated facing the Cinque Torri. Descend via a beautiful wooded path to Pocol.
5h00 to 5h30 walking; +450 m, -650 m.
Alternatively, you can take a more aerial route and lengthen the stage with a return trip to the Giussani hut (2580m), superbly situated at the foot of the Tofane, with its guaranteed mountain atmosphere!
+0h30 to 2h walking, +160 to +430m, -200 to -400m.

Day 4

Lagazuoi summit and plateau
From Passo Falzarego, which you can reach by bus or car, take the cable car up to the summit of Pizo Lagazuoi, 2752m. The view from the summit is fantastic!
From the summit, you can choose between several hikes, for example :
1) Around the (steeply sloping) Lagazuoi plateau to the Scotoni hut, 1985m, then back over the small Lagacio lake to the Travenanzes pass and descent on foot to the Falzarego pass.
5h to 6h walking, +600m, -1100m.
2) From Pizo Lagazuoi, descend directly to Pocol via the Travenanzes pass, then, passing the foot of the high Tofane cliffs, reach the Dibona hut before descending to Pocol.
5h walking +150m, -1250m.
Overnight in a half-board hotel.

Day 5

Tre Cime di Lavaredo, south and east faces
From the Auronzo hut, which you reach by bus, you set off on foot for the grand tour of the Tre Cime, a mythical stage amidst needles, towers and other peaks. Crossing to the Lavaredo refuge, beneath the Tre Cime; then around Mt Paterno and the Croda Passaporto via the Büllelejoch pass and the Piani lakes. You will then reach the Locatelli refuge and the north face of the Tre cime, a breathtaking sight! Return to Auronzo via the small Langalm refuge and the Medo pass, 2315m.
4h00 to 4h30 walking; +590 m, – 590 m.
You can extend the stage by descending a good path to Lake Antorno, 1870m. +1h30 to 2h walk, – 450m.
Overnight in a half-board hotel.

Day 6

Pocol
End of services after breakfast.
Departure by bus or car for a free exploration of Lac de Braies. Hike a loop around the lake and/or hire a rowing boat to relax in this idyllic setting.
2h00 walking; +100 m, -100 m.
Possibility of adding one or more extra nights on the shores of Lago di Braies (in a 3* hotel, private room with shared bathroom).
