How do I use GPX tracks?

1 Lecture minimale

GPX files (GPS Exchange Format) are digital files containing the detailed itinerary of your hike or bike ride. They make it easy to follow your route, step by step, using a smartphone or GPS device. Here’s how to use them:

Need help? We’re here!
If you have any problems using GPX tracks, or if you have any questions about using your GPS application, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We’ll be happy to help you before you leave, so that you can enjoy your stay in complete peace of mind.

Download GPX files provided by Europ’Aventure
Before your departure, we will send you the GPX files corresponding to your stay. These files can usually be downloaded directly from your customer area or received by e-mail.

Choose a compatible application or device

On your smartphone: Install a GPS application suitable for hiking or cycling, such as Komoot, Maps.me, Outdooractive or GPX Viewer. These applications are available on Android and iOS.

On a dedicated GPS: If you own a GPS hiking device (Garmin, Wahoo, etc.), you can also transfer GPX files to it via a USB cable or memory card.

Import GPX files
Open your application or connect your device, then import the GPX files. The procedure may vary slightly depending on the tool used, but is generally quick and simple (drag & drop, “import” button, etc.).

Follow your itinerary with complete peace of mind
Once the file is loaded, start navigation to follow the route. Your position will be displayed on the map in real time, making it easy to stay on the right track. Some applications also allow you to download maps offline, which is very useful in areas without a network.
