A multi-activity weekend to discover the region of Bastogne and the sites of the Battle of the Bulge.
Passionate about the Second World War and the Battle of the Bulge in particular? Want to discover the beautiful Bastogne region by jeep? Europ’Aventure has the perfect itinerary for you. On the first day, you can set off on foot along the magnificent signposted trails of the commune of Sainte-Ode in the Bastogne area, discovering some splendid scenery. The next day, you’ll drive to Bastogne to meet your guide at Place MacAuliffe. From there, you’ll head off on a private tour of the Ardennes villages on one of the historic Battle of the Bulge routes: Bastogne, Le Mardasson, Bois Jacques and the Bastogne War Museum. The tour takes place in a Willys Jeep, one of the most emblematic vehicles of the war !!!!
This short stay is an excellent balance between nature and culture and allows you to relive one of the most important battles of the Second World War. Program
Day 1
Sainte-Ode
Reception in Sainte-Ode in the afternoon and handing over of the complete file. Evening meal included.
Day 2
Sainte-Ode
On this first day, you will have the opportunity to choose one of the 5 major hikes in the commune of Sainte-Ode according to the desired distance (17 to 27 km). These itineraries make you discover two of the most beautiful valleys of the Ardennes, namely the Ourthe valley and the Laval valley. You can also hike part of the brand-new Chemin de la Liberté. Return to accommodation and evening meal included.
Day 3
Sainte-Ode – Bastogne
Departure for Bastogne by car after breakfast. Meet at Mc Auliffe square at 10:00 am where you will meet your guide. After a short introduction, you will embark on a Jeep tour to discover the important sites of the Battle of the Bulge.
Circle of 2h30 : This itinerary goes through the Bastogne War Museum, the Bois de la Paix, the Bois Jacques. Via Recogne and its German cemetery, you will reach the Place de Bastogne for a free visit of the Airborn Museum and Baracks Bastogne.
4h00 loop: An invitation to discover the village of Sainlez from Bastogne, and its museum of the Civil Memory of Sainlez 1940 – 1945. Passing through the villages of Lutrebois, Villers-la-Bonne-Eau, the native village of Queen Mathilde, you reach the centre of Bastogne.
